Palomino Valley Nevada

A Blog for Residents of the Palomino Valley

Gotta remember to take some pics of the hang gliders next time.

The guys were awesome today.  I mean they were up there for HOURS! and boy did they get some altitude.

Just love seeing the hang gliders and gliders out here.  Will defintely take some pics or video next time and post…

Just though I’d share this little time lapse video of some clouds moving through the valley.

Crazy winds out there right now.  My weatherstation on the hill recorded a gust of 125 mph at around 12:00 noon today…

Can’t see across the valley due to the winds.  I just wish the front would move through and give us some rain!

So, we had some pumpkins and watermelons we grew this year that never really got to a very large size.  I’d say bigger than a softball, but smaller than a soccer ball.  Last night something made off with 3 of the watermelons and 1 pumpkin.  No trace of them having been chewed, they are just gone.  Oh yeah, something has also been chewing the lower branches on one of the pine trees.

Possible culprits I know of would be horses, deer, antelop, coyotes, rabbits.

The only problem is nothing of these seem very likely to me.  The horses don’t come that close to the house, never seen deer that close.

Would coyotes actually go after pumpkins and watermelons?  That seems wacky.

And the rabbits are too small to move these things and would probably eat them where they lay.

Very odd!

Well, Technically, I guess they are  estray horses.  There used to a pretty large band of estray horses (around 50) that would roam around the property here a couple of years ago.  Those guys were rounded up and there’s been a couple of smaller bands that roam around.

I think this little group must have split off from a band of around 10 that I’ve seen around.

Anyhow, They’ve got a cute little colt…

Cute Little Colt.

Looks like the wind gauge on the weather site is down…

I’ll see if I can’t get it fixed sometime today.

Hope you are too. And I really hope the lightning didn’t spark anything the rain can’t take care of…

Time to Call Nevada Energy…

Only 2:30pm and look at these ominous clouds. 96 degrees and 32%humidity.

Just hoping we don’t get much lightening

Ominous Clouds coming from the East.

Just a little rain shower and some lightning. Doubt it will register on the Palomino Valley Weather website though… Just nice to get a little moisture.
